It all started in 2019 at an AEPi fraternity party at the University of Miami. Sara and her friends ended up hanging out with some of Sam’s fraternity brothers after the party at Sam’s off-campus house, famously known as Mango. Sara didn’t know Sam’s name yet, but knew he had a little white dog named Nike. She referred to Sam as “the kid with the dog” for the next few months. “The kid with the dog” ended up at Sara’s apartment in February 2020 for her 21st birthday, just coming to eat cake and leave (true story). When COVID hit in March 2020, Sara and Sam both went home to Orlando and Philadelphia. Sara arrived back in Miami in April and started spending time at the Mango house, as not many people were in town during lockdown. She spent her days with Sam’s roommates, her roommate, and a few other friends (most of whom are bridesmaids, groomsmen, or guests at our wedding!). On May 11th, 2020, Sam flew back to Miami and arrived at the Mango house. Something changed in Sara’s eyes, and she saw Sam as more than just “the kid with the dog.” A few nights later, Sara and Sam stayed up until 7:00am talking, laughing, watching the sun come up, and then ordering Pinecrest Bakery Cuban sandwiches. Sara knew in that moment that she would spend the rest of her life with him. From then on, they were inseparable. Sara started her senior year at the University of Miami, and Sam started his junior year as a couple. They took a ceramics class together that semester, and they typically had a beer or two at the Titanic beforehand. Sara graduated in 2021, Sam in 2022. They lived in Brickell before moving to Tampa together in July 2024. On March 22nd, 2025, Sam asked Sara to marry him. She knew in June 2020 that she would say yes.
